12 Days of Christmas: Day 1. Outdoor Decorations
Updated: Apr 25
Let your guests feel the spirit of Christmas before they even step into your house by making a bold statement beginning with your front door. Decorating your front yard or porch is the perfect way to set the scene for the holidays.
Here are a few of my inspirations from Pinterest.
Slide for more.
Whether it's a big ole jolly wreath or beautifully lit garland framing your door, I searched high and low for the best outdoor decoration that'll turn your house into Christmas magic.
So, lets start with that big ole jolly wreath. A good wreath will set the tone for the rest of the decor. Do you want a big fluffy look? A twiggy, rustic look? Flocked with berries? If you're not sure where to start, start with the wreath and let the wreath guide you.
Here are my favorite wreaths!
A garland around a door is like eyebrows on a face. Imagine doing a full face a makeup and then ignoring your brows, not a good look right? Garland like eyebrows, works as a frame and pulls everything together.
Window wreaths are the least fussy of outdoor Christmas decor but still make a big impact. A small, simple wreath hung on each window will suffice. It doesn't even have to be lit. Window wreaths are more like filler flowers (hello Sex and the City reference!), they exist to make the focal point standout even more!
And finally, lights! Of course we couldn't have done all this work just so that it'll get lost in the dark of the night. We need lights to top it off! Even if your outdoor decor is very minimal and you just prefer to do one thing, let that one thing be lights. Walking up to a house with Christmas lights definitely brings the holiday cheer.
What's your favorite part of outdoor Christmas decor? Don't forget to comeback tomorrow for 12 Days of Christmas: Day 2. Indoor Decor.
